Divas don Christmas tassels

NANAIMO – Diva Dolls tease viewers during a Christmas show at the Queen's Saturday (Dec. 8).

The Diva Dolls are hanging the Christmas tinsel early this year with a burlesque show at the Queen’s Saturday night.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Brandi Blaze, troupe founder and performer.

The show features three burlesque dancers, stand-up comedian Dirty Gerty and emcee Mistress of Metal. It will also feature door prizes and a holiday photo shoot by Love Always.

It’s the troupe’s first Christmas show, although they have hosted other shows.

“I’m excited,” said Blaze, adding audience  members will be invited to participate.

It features Christmas songs like Santa Baby, Run Rudolph Run and a performance by Blaze to the Grinch song.

“It’s going to be comical,” she said.

The troupe formed in July 2010 and had its first show in October of that year. Blaze originally started as a stage manager for a different burlesque troupe, but soon discovered she wanted to be in the spotlight instead of backstage.

The Diva Dolls present their show Tinsel, Tassels and Tease  Saturday (Dec. 8) at the Queen’s starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance at the Diva Doll Boutique, the Queen’s or $20 at the door.
