Nanaimo’s David Gogo will perform alongside Sarah Smith as part of the Music From the Edges of Canada concert series.

According to a release for the show, the concert can be attended in-person at the Tidemark Theatre, 1220 Shoppers Row in Campbell River, or viewed via live-stream on Sunday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m.

“David Gogo has six Juno Award nominations, has been named Guitarist of the Year three times at the Maple Blues Awards, was named Musician of the Year at the West Coast Music Awards, won Blues Recording of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, and received the Great Canadian Blues Award for his lifetime contribution to the blues in Canada as voted by the listeners of CBC’s Saturday Night Blues,” noted the release.

The show will be Smith’s debut into the series.

“For Sarah Smith, the time has come to say more, show more, and share an even deeper truth with her fans, courtesy of her brand new album, Unveiling,” read the release.

“Sarah has always been vulnerable in her songwriting – she doesn’t know how to do it any other way. Unveiling takes that openness to a deeply personal new level as Sarah sings about love, loss, and having the courage to trust in her own voice.”

Unveiling is Smith’s fifth studio album, following A Christmas Wish (2018), 11 (2016), The Journey (2014), and Stronger Now (2012). She continues to tour prolifically, playing around 300 dates per year in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Music from the Edges of Canada is a national music series that showcases 22 artists in 11 live and virtual concerts in four theatres from the “edges of Canada,” the release noted.

Tickets can be purchased online through either www.musicfromtheedges.ca or from www.tidemarktheatre.com.
