Dance classes help kids learn

NANAIMO - Arts Alive's Monkey Math Moves teaches children math through movement.

Children can gain a better understanding of numbers and patterns while having fun dancing and singing.

Arts Alive is offering Monkey Math Moves, a new approach to teaching children about math, from July 22-26.

The course was created for children ages seven to 10 years old.

The course runs Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10-11 a.m.

It is led by Mary-Jo Fulmer who developed a new approach to help children overcome issues related to learning mathematics.

Participants will sing, dance and have fun while learning basics. According to Arts Alive, movement improves memory, cognition, attention and perception and can lead to a positive attitude toward learning.

The course fee is $35. For more information please go to www.nanaimoartsalive.com.

People can register in person at any city recreation facility or please call 250-756-5200 or go to https://ireg.nanaimo.ca/webreg/Start/Start.asp?SCheck=119970011&SDT=40260.51409375.
