A courtroom drama will be dramatized at the Ladysmith Little Theatre starting next week.

Beyond Reasonable Doubt, written by Jeffrey Archer and directed by Gordon McInnis, will be staged Nov. 3-20.

“In the central criminal court, the Old Bailey, Sir David Metcalfe, distinguished QC and chairman of the bar council, is conducting the most important defence of his career – his own,” notes a press release for the play. “Accused of the willful murder of his terminally ill wife, Sir David finds himself locked in legal combat with his old rival, Sir Anthony Blair Booth QC, prosecuting counsel.”

The first act, which plays out in the courtroom, is described as “tense and gripping,” while the second act will take the audience back to the fateful night of Lady Metcalfe’s death leading up to the surprising conclusion.

Evening performances are slated for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with doors at 7 p.m. and the show at 7:30 p.m. Matinee performances will be held Sundays with doors at 1:30 p.m. and showtime at 2 p.m.
