In the words of Alice Cooper, "school's out for summer," or in some instances, "school's out forever."

At least that is the case for the majority of students at Vancouver Island University, who will be celebrating the end of exams and essays.

In an effort to celebrate the conclusion of the university's school year, Koncept Nightclub will be throwing a summer-themed party on Friday (April 24).

"We know that education isn't cheap. VIU students have can expect a good time without breaking the bank, in fact they might leave with more than they came with," said club manager Sydney Braid. "Nanaimo will get a taste of summer at Koncept, and for those that will be heading back home or travelling for the summer, this will be a send off they'll never forget."The event, which is simply called School is Out Party, will feature music spun by David Mumford and DJ David Whiteman, who will be giving his last performance before heading to his home in Alberta.

Whiteman, a Vancouver Island University student, said he has enjoyed being able to interact with the club's regulars, known as 'Koncepters.'

"The best part is definitely the amazing people I get to interact with every weekend. We've developed a family of 'Koncepters' and it feels amazing to see them come back for more every weekend," Whiteman said. "As a performer I have had the proud privilege of not only sharing amazing moments with so many people but I have the honour of creating many of those moments."

Friday night's festivities will include beach balls, iced drinks and new summer drink specials. The club will also be tossing out various dollar bills to the patrons, in an routine known as 'cash flying.'

Koncept Nightclub’s doors open at 10 p.m. on Friday night and there is no cover charge. For more information, please visit www.bitly.com/KonceptNClubFB or follow the venue on Twitter at @KonceptNClub.
