The City of Nanaimo is inviting people to nominate individuals or organizations for the annual culture awards.
The awards, Excellence in Culture and Honour in Culture, aims at recognizing organizations or people who have made a significant contribution to the cultural vibrancy of Nanaimo.
Past winners include the Vancouver Island Symphony, international jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall, Arts Alive Summer School of Fine Arts and others.
The awards will be presented next spring at the Port Theatre and the winner’s photographs will be displayed in the Margaret Strongitharm Gallery.
Nomination forms are available at the Bowen and Beban Park recreation centres or online at www.nanaimo.ca.
The deadline for submissions is Sept. 6.
