Chamber orchestra returns with concerts in Nanaimo and on Gabriola Island

The Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra returns after two years for its spring program, Bach and More.

Two concerts will be held for the program. The first one is Saturday, June 18, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Nanaimo, and the second is Sunday, June 19, at 2:30 p.m. at the Gabriola Community Hall on Gabriola Island.

According to a release, Bach and More includes works by composers George Frideric Handel, Francesco Antonio Bonporti and Edward Elgar.

The program will also feature the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra’s 2020 Concerto Competition for Young Musicians winner, Max Day, to play Johann Sebastian Bach’s second violin concerto in E. Day, a member of the orchestra since 2018, was previously a fiddle player with Fiddelium and participated in local and provincial music festivals.

Admission is $20 for adults and $5 for students and children under 13 years old are free.
