Boys sing sweet songs

NANAIMO - SongWave program, which starts Monday (March 25), helps boys develop their singing skills.

Boys with a song in their hearts and a desire to learn how to sing with a choir have an opportunity to expand their abilities starting Monday (March 25).

The British Columbia Boys Choir presents its annual SongWave program from March 25 to May 6. The program is open for boys ages eight to 12.  The choir rehearsals are 5-6 p.m. on Mondays at the Nanaimo Harbourfront Library.

“The SongWave singing program is a great opportunity for boys that love to sing to do so in a setting with other boys that love to perform; singing builds confidence giving boys stage experience and vocal training in six short weeks,” said Patricia Plumley, choir conductor.

Registration is $60 and bursaries are available. At the end of the six weeks of training the participants will join 70 members from British Columbia Boys Choirs to present a free concert celebrating International Music Day May 6 at the Port Theatre.
