Hiking the Gulf Islands of British Columbia offers information on nearby trails.

Author Charles Kahn shares the secrets of a hiker’s paradise.

The Gulf Islands, nestled between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, boast the mildest climate in Canada. Similar to the Mediterranean, the islands offer an abundance of plant life and animal species found nowhere else in the country.

The update edition of this guide includes new walks, hikes beach access and paddling suggestions for kayakers.

In each chapter dedicated to a different island, the book features maps with trail head locations, descriptions, length and degree of difficulty.

Kahn, a resident of Salt Spring Island for more than 20 years, is an active member of the island’s hiking and kayaking clubs, as well as the local trails committee.
