Harpdog Brown is known for his harmonica playing skills – called harps in the blues world – and he performs Friday (April 8) at Headliners.

A gifted singer and an imaginative harmonica player, Harpdog Brown brings traditional blues into the 21st century.

Harpdog Brown, born and raised in Edmonton, Alta., started playing blues in 1981. A successful touring artist, the Dog shared the stage with Pinetop Perkins, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, The Powder Blues Band and more.

In 1994, he won a prestigious Muddy Award – the only Canadian to do so. The following year he was nominated for a Juno Award for Best Blues Album for Home Is Where the Harp Is.

A musical gypsy, Harpdog travels near and far with his musical story. He performs Friday (April 8), 8 p.m., at Headliners, next to Mrs. Riches.

Tickets $15. Please call 250-753-2323.
