Birds of every kind of flock or gaggle are the subject of a painting exhibit by Grant Leier.

His exhibit, called Bird, is on display at Gabriola’s Keep Calm and Carry On Gallery Friday (March 29) from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday (March 30) 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a special artist talk at 1 p.m.

In his exhibit, Leier shows off his love for patterns and colours. His work consists of paintings of herons, geese, eagles and other smaller avian specimens.

Leier’s artistic career has spanned more than three decades, but he continues to learn, explore different techniques and push boundaries.

“I am completely over the moon about what I have learned about painting in the past few months,” he said in a press release. “I am most excited about the multiple glazing and dragging of the canvas with transparent acrylic … the colours are enhanced and the mood of the piece is altered dramatically.”

He has shown his work during numerous exhibitions in Canada and the United States.
