The Bergmann piano duo is ending the Port Theatre's Classical Coffee Concert season by sharing some of their favourite works.

The duo, Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann, took over as host musicians this season, taking the reins from pianist Sarah Hagen who moved away from Nanaimo last year.

The last concert is Tuesday (March 21) at 10:30 a.m. in the Port Theatre's lobby. The concert, Fantasies and Rhapsodies, includes Schubert's Fantasy if F minor, Mozart's Fantasy for a Musical Clock Work and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

The concert is held in the Port Theatre's lobby to create a more intimate musical experience for the audience.

"Complete with coffee, treats and laughs, this intimate lobby performance hosted by the dynamic Bergmann Duo is a wonderful way to start your day," said Shelley Johnstone, marketing and community outreach coordinator at the Port Theatre, in a press release.

The Bergmann Duo has performed around the world and received numerous awards for their work including first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Caltanissetta, Italy and were laureates at the fourth Murray Dranoff International Two Piano Competition.

In addition to performing the two pianists also teach. They are both artistic directors of White Rock Concerts and have been faculty at Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary.

Tickets are $27.50 for adults, $24.50 for members, $15 for students or a four-pack is $96 available in advance by calling 250-754-8550 or visit www.porttheatre.com.
