DakhaBrakha, an award-winning Ukrainian quartet, is bringing its unique blend of pop, funk and traditional folk music to Nanaimo.
The group performs at Nanaimo’s Port Theatre on Wednesday (April 19) at 7:30 p.m. DakhaBrakha’s music is described as having a trans-national sound due to the members blending inspiration from Indian, Arabic, African, Russian and Australian music with Ukrainian culture. Using contemporary and traditional methods, the four performers reshape rural folk songs
There is a pre-show perogy party in the lobby starting at 6 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a plate of perogies for $5 thanks to Sandy’s Ukrainian Kitchen.
