World prayers go out to Chile

Community church groups are hoping people put their hands together and pray for the women of Chile.

St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 100 Chapel St., hosts World Day of Prayer, Friday (March 4) at 1:30 p.m.

This year’s event focuses on the women of Chile and asks people to draw on passages from the Bible and put them into the context of Chilean lives and communities.

World Day of Prayer is being celebrated in more than 170 countries and in 2,000 Canadian communities. In Canada the event is coordinated by the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada. World Prayer Day has been celebrated since 1922.
