Votes and voters are sought for the 2015 Canstruction Nanaimo people's choice award.

The creative building fundraising contest, situated at Woodgrove Centre, saw teams constructing structures with food cans. Proceeds and food go to Nanaimo Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank.

People have until 7 p.m. on July 11 to vote for their favourite work and voting tokens are available for purchase – $2 each or three for $5 – at Woodgrove's guest services desk. Tokens are dropped into vote boxes near displays.

A five-judge panel was at the mall June 27 and based on their input, Koers and Associates Engineering Ltd. won the structural integrity award for its work Sailing by the Bastion.

Read Jones Christoffersen Consulting Engineers, and its entry Out for a Paddle in Newcastle Channel, won jurors' favourite and best use of labels awards.

Herold Engineering Ltd. won award for best meal, with its Splashing About the West Coast build, and the Young Professionals of Nanaimo received an honourable mention award for The Bastion.

More than 7,872 cans of food have been collected and to date $500 has been raised. Organizers are hoping for $1,000.

Awards will be presented at Woodgrove Centre's water clock at 5:30 p.m. on July 12.
