Volunteers provide help filing tax returns

NANAIMO – Community Volunteer Income Tax Program clinics available until end of April.

Free volunteer income tax preparation clinics are being offered to eligible Canadians until the end of April through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.

In Nanaimo volunteers with the Salvation Army and Volunteer Nanaimo are offering help with filing taxes and tax filing clinics for voluntary donations.

The federal government also provides online services so organizations and volunteers can register online and offer better training and support for first-time community organizations planning to host clinics.

The volunteer tax preparation program is available free of charge to any taxpayer with a modest income and simple tax situation.

For more information about the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program or to find a participating community organization, please visit the program website at www.cra.gc.ca/volunteer.
