Volunteers needed for street hockey game

Organizer looking for volunteers to participate in world's longest street hockey game in Nanaimo.

Tali Campbell, organizer of a Guiness World Record attempt at the world's longest street hockey game, is finding it hard getting volunteers to commit to the cause.

Youth Sticking Together, a group of youths helped by adults, will try to beat the current world record of 105 hours and 17 minutes between June 28 and July 4 at the Nanaimo Curling Club lacrosse box.

The world's longest street hockey game is a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island, Crimson Coast Dance Society and the Harewood Youth Ball Hockey league.

"We're looking for 200 (volunteers) and we're at about the 50 mark right now," Campbell said.

Campbell is going to various businesses around town distributing volunteer application forms to try and drum up enough volunteers in time for the event start date.

For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, please visit the Youth Sticking Together website at www.youthstickingtogether.com or contact Campbell at 250-327-9332 or via e-mail at tali@youstickingtogether.com.
