Nanaimo Centre Stage– Theatre volunteers are needed for the production of The Full Monty at Nanaimo Centre Stage on Victoria Road until May 12. Responsibilities include dress in black clothing, ensure theatre is clean, hand out programs, collect tickets, close curtains and lower lights, seat latecomers, assist patrons, open/close curtains during intermission, thank patrons when leaving, pick up programs, cups, etc., when house is empty. Shift times are 6:45 -10:45 p.m. Please call Aarame Robillard at 250-754-2264.

Volunteer Nanaimo – A Wednesday resceptionist is required in an office shared with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island at 3-2350 Labieux Rd. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call 250-758-7121 to arrange a visit.

Vancouver Island Children’s Book Festival – Volunteers are needed for the annual BookFest event celebrating childrens’ literature May 5 in downtown Nanaimo. Participants will become members of the BookFest 2012 committee and have an opportunity to meet authors and illustrators from across Canada.More information may be found at www.bookfest.ca.

Nanaimo Organization of the Vision Impaired – A volunteer secretary is required to assist this organization to record minutes of monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of every month from 1:30-3:30 p.m until June at Maffeo Hall, 285 Prideaux St. Location is situated across the road from the downtown bus exchange. Nanaimo Red Cross Society– The organization’s Health Equipment Loan Program needs volunteers to: provide front-line assistance to clients who require a loan for up to three months; to inspect, maintain and clean all home use health equipment in use by the HELP program; and assist the program technician with delivery and installation of health equipment for clients. Alzheimer Society of B.C. – A volunteer with organizational, supervisory, computer, interpersonal, problem-solving, customer service, multitasking, and management skills is required for this on-going position. A commitment of one year is requested, and a criminal record check, paid for by the agency, is required. A resumé is also requested. REED Foundation – The Recycling Equals Educational Development Foundation supports educational needs of less-fortunate children, locally and globally and is looking for someone with an above-average understanding of computers to create a stronger social media campaign, construct and update website, Facebook and perhaps Twitter accounts.
