Parents can use support sometimes and the Parent Support Services Society of B.C. wants to help facilitate, but it needs some volunteer help.

Parent Support Services is looking for a volunteer co-facilitator for its central and northern Vancouver Island chapter, according to a Volunteer Nanaimo press release.

The organization offers support groups for parents and for caregivers such as grandparents who are raising grandchildren.

“Parent Support Services is looking for volunteers who understand the issues and concerns of people in a parenting role,” noted the press release.

Volunteers should be mature, non-judgmental and caring and be willing to work within organizational guidelines. Interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills are also required.

An RCMP security check will be paid for by the agency, and training and supervision will be provided.
