An urban issues expert will talk about how Nanaimo can position itself to attract knowledge-based industries.

Gord Hume, author of Places and Spaces, will speak Tuesday (Nov. 1) at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

According to the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce, the event organizer, Hume’s presentation will discuss ways to attract businesses to consider Nanaimo to establish or grow a business during a time of transition away from resource-based economy.

Hume has spoken in front of audiences around the world and was keynote speaker at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s Congress on Creative Cities.
