Tournament tackles MS

Corinne and Al Jensen have worked tirelessly to plan a golf tournament to benefit people living with multiple sclerosis and to support research to find a cure for the disease.

The fight is personal for the couple, as Corinne has been living with MS for more than 20 years, being diagnosed on her 28th birthday.

After she was unable to continue working, she decided to use her skills and talents to help fundraise for the MS Society and recently joined the local chapter’s board of directors.

“It is so essential that the hundreds of people living with MS in our community can depend on the Central Island Chapter of the MS Society to help enhance their quality of life,” she said.

When the couple returned to Nanaimo after living in the south Island region for a number of years, they wanted to do a major fundraiser for the society.

The tournament features a putting contest, 18 holes of golf, dinner and prizes.Registration is $150 per person and includes a $50 charitable tax receipt.

The MS Golf Tournament takes place Aug. 1 at the Nanaimo Golf Club.
