NANAIMO – An entire province of Toastmasters is coming to town this weekend (May 3-5).

An entire province of Toastmasters is coming to Nanaimo this weekend (May 3-5).

Toastmasters’ District 21 s holding its spring conference in the Harbour City, commencing Friday with an impromptu meeting aboard the Tsawwassen-Duke Point ferry at 12:30 p.m. and continuing the remainder of the weekend at the Coast Bastion Inn.

Conference participants will hear world renowned professional keynote speakers Johnny Campbell, Pat Johnson and Norma Cameron.

An international speech contest takes place, with the top 10 speakers from all divisions in the district competing for the right to progress to semifinals in Cincinnati at the Toastmasters International Convention in August.

The conference also includes educational sessions, speakers, contests and learning opportunities

Toastmasters teaches both communicating and leadership, giving participants opportunities to gain confidence and self-esteem by overcoming their fears of public speaking.
