A walk of silent remembrance will encourage people to get together to remember lives lost to suicide and think about the lives that can be saved in the future.
On Sunday, Sept. 9, the Vancouver Island Crisis Society will be holding its annual Soles Remembering Souls walk at Maffeo Sutton Park between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The event’s theme centres around loneliness and the idea of bringing people together in times of grieving or need.
“We hope that through connection, we can lessen the difficulty of grieving alone,” noted an event press release.
Those interested in attending this year’s walk are asked to bring a new pair of shoes or socks that will be then be donated to the less fortunate.
This year’s event, on World Suicide Prevention Day, also features live musical performances from Jona Kristinsson, Sirreal, Raymond Salgado and Nanaimo Idol 2018 winner Ellie Barnhart.
