Singers wanted for Island choir

ingers of all abilities are invited to joint the Island Soul Choir for its fall session.

Singers of all abilities are invited to joint the Island Soul Choir for its fall session.

Directed by composer, educator, vocalist and conductor Brian Tate the choir meets about once a month on weekends. As a result, it is able to attract members from all over Vancouver Island.

The music ranges from gospel, spirituals and world music, to blues, pop, soul and R&B.

To help members practise between rehearsals, the parts for all the songs are recorded separately and posted on the choir’s website. Members then can learn on the go.

Membership is done on fall and spring sessions, so time commitment is for only a few months at a time.

Rehearsals begin Aug. 27 at St. Philip’s-by-the-Sea Anglican Church at 7113 Lantzville Rd.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., with rehearsal at 1 p.m.

All that’s needed is a passion to sing. There are no auditions.
