Coastal Community Credit Union invites Nanaimo residents to grab a blanket or pull up a lawnchair for the free Sunset Cinema series, coming to Maffeo Sutton Park July 18.
Jumanji will be playing at dusk on a giant, inflatable movie screen and the event also includes a concession.
While admission is free, money is raised to support Success By 6, an early childhood learning initiative, through concession sales and donations.
For its inaugural year last year, more than $7,000 was raised at the events.
Coastal Community is also collecting pennies at all of its locations across the Island and Gulf Islands for July.
The “Sunsetting Your Pennies” fundraiser is in response to the federal government’s decision to discontinue production of the Canadian penny. Proceeds will also be donated to Success by 6.
