Sea cadets showcase skills

Members of Nanaimo’s 136 Amphion Royal Canadian Sea Cadets are off to the B.C. Provincial Seamanship Competition at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt next month after finishing first in the Vancouver Island zone competition.

Ten members of Nanaimo’s 136 Amphion Royal Canadian Sea Cadets have a chance to showcase their skills against the province’s best. 

Cadets Daniel Frost, Carmela deGracia, Tyler Davidson, Cassy Leonard, Chelsea Duncan, Sierra Bready, Beau Ahlstrom, Jocelyn Hitchen, Sean McAuliffe and Ashley Barill will compete in the B.C. Provincial Seamanship Competition at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt April 2-3.  

The group, coached by coached by Lieut. James Cartwright and sub lieutenant Tabatha Orange, are among 330 cadets from Royal Canadian Sea Corps throughout B.C. that competed in four zone competitions held between December and February throughout the province.  

They earned the opportunity to compete in the provincial competition by placing first among 110 cadets in the Vancouver Island Zone competition held in Nanaimo.
