Salmon activist Alexandra Morton discusses the ongoing issue of open-net pen fish farming.

Salmon activist Alexandra Morton discusses the ongoing issue of open-net pen fish farming at a B.C. Wildlife Federation Vancouver Island Region meeting in Nanaimo Sunday (June 10).

The meeting, open to the public, begins at 1:30 p.m at the Nanaimo and District Fish and Game Protective Association clubhouse, 1325 Nanaimo Lakes Rd.

Morton walked 500 kilometres from Sointula, on Malcolm Island, to Victoria in the spring of 2010 to protest open-net fish farming on B.C.’s coast and to convince the provincial and federal governments to start protecting wild salmon.
