NANAIMO: People craving the citrus taste of oranges and grapefruits can get their fill and help charities in the process.

People craving the citrus taste of oranges and grapefruits can get their fill and help charities in the process.

The Rotary Club of Nanaimo North is hosting its annual Citrus for Charity drive raising funds for local charities and community projects, which include various youth organizations and programs.

Fruit lovers can also help other organizations by buying a box of oranges or grapefruit on their behalf. Boxes can be purchased for the Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank, Haven House, the Salvation Army or an organization of the person’s choice.

An 18-kilogram box of navel oranges or pink grapefruit is $40 per box or a mix of both is $45. A nine-kg box of either fruit is $25 per box.

To place an order, please call 250-616-3641 or e-mail citrus@v3.ca. People ordering boxes for themselves must pick them up and they will be available for pickup starting Nov. 17. Boxes purchased for the community organizations will be delivered.
