The Men’s Centre in Nanaimo has finished a fixer-upper at its Old City Quarter office and looks forward to showing off its renovated space when health restrictions ease.

The centre on Fitzwilliam Street, with help from Volunteer Nanaimo, put out the call for help late last fall and “a lineup of generous volunteers” came forward to help with electrical work, plumbing, drywall, baseboards, cabinet installation and numerous other general improvements, noted a press release from the centre.

Various contractors and building material businesses also provided donations and discounts.

“We would like to recognize all of our volunteers and vendors for their ‘above and beyond’ contribution to our much-needed renovation,” the release noted. “The new look has freshened not only our workplace, but also the spirit of our staff and clients.”

Men’s centre staff say they expect to publish a more detailed list of thank yous on their website soon.
