École Quarterway Elementary School’s Grade 7 class, planning a French Immersion exchange to Quebec, did some of the more traditional types of fundraising. Now it wants to try something different.

The school hosts Q-Con, a games, gaming and gamers’ convention, this Saturday (Nov. 19).

The event features an appearance by Adrian Hough, who is the motion-capture and voice actor behind the Assassin’s Creed video game character Hayden Kenway. Hough will hold a question-and-answer and will be available for photo ops.

Also, Cloudhead Games will be bringing their virtual reality machines and their critically acclaimed game Call of the Starseed. A tour of Cloudhead’s studio will be one of the silent auction items up for bid at Q-Con.

The convention will also involve a cosplay competition, a swordplay demonstration by the Society for Creative Anachronism, Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons games and more.

The event is from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Quarterway school gymnasium. For more information, please visit www.facebook.com/qcongameday.
