Purebred dog breeders and their best friends got together to enjoy a walk through downtown Nanaimo this weekend.
Sandi Malcolm, event organizer, said Saturday’s get-together, which began at Maffeo Sutton Park, was an opportunity for breeders to show off their pets.
“There are wonderful purebred dog breeders around and all of these people, I know them all, we all show our dogs,” said Malcolm. “We all health check our dogs, our dogs are guaranteed. Mine are sold under health contracts and guarantees. I’m in touch with the people that I placed dogs with 15 years ago … a lot of time, purebred dog breeders get a bad rap, but there’s good ones and there’s not-so-good ones, the same as in any job.”
Another event is planned for Oct. 24 at Maffeo Sutton Park, with time to be determined.
“We’d love the public to come out and just watch the dogs walk by, give them a scratch and tickle or whatever,” Malcolm said.
