Program helps diabetes suffers with disease-related costs

People with diabetes usually incur medical costs that are much higher than people without diabetes, and they face these costs no matter where they live in Canada.

The Canadian Diabetes Association offers Canadians the opportunity to apply for a free blood glucose monitoring kit through its Compassionate Use Program.

The program assists those who are having difficulty affording their blood glucose monitoring supplies. These free kits consist of a OneTouch ultramini system, 300 ultra blue test strips and 300 lancets.

The Compassionate Use Program is only valid in Canada and only to Canadian residents who are insulin-dependent or who require oral medication in order to manage their diabetes.
