Paramedics honoured for service

A pair of Nanaimo-area B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics are among 25 recipients of Emergency Medical Services exemplary service medals.

Lance Stephenson of Nanaimo and Bob Gallaher of Nanoose Bay received their medals from Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon for 30 years service at a ceremony at Government House in Victoria.

The medals recognizes professionals for excellence in pre-hospital emergency medical services, honouring paramedics and leaders who have performed their duties in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct, industry and efficiency.

To be eligible for the award, recipients must complete 20 years of exemplary service and perform at a level above and beyond the expectations of their employment.
