Organizers are tickled pink after Nanaimo’s first Colours for Kids event.
The BGC Central Vancouver Island fundraiser held Saturday, May 27, in and around Beban Park, saw participants clad in white t-shirts walking or running along the route, and being doused with coloured powder leading to a tie dye-kaleidoscope effect.
Karen Love, BGC C.V.I. executive director, said the event was a success and the non-profit plans to hold the event again next year.
“We are so grateful for all that community support,” she said. “We sold out, 500 people registered, so we’re really, really happy … the goal was $25,000 and so far, we’re at $22,000.”
Money raised will go toward BGC Central Vancouver Island programs, including Generation Q and Purple Girlzillas.
