Nanaimo police and ICBC push pedestrian safety

NANAIMO – Volunteers, police and ICBC representatives will hand out reflectors at Nanaimo shopping centres.

Nanaimo's RMCP Traffic Unit, ICBC representatives and volunteers are handing out reflectors to help reduce hazardous encounters between pedestrians and motor vehicles at crosswalks.

"We're kicking it off Tuesday (Oct. 20) at University Village Mall from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.," said Const. Gary O'Brien.

A second reflector handout will happen at Port Place Shopping Centre, Thursday (Oct. 29), from 6-8 p.m.

"Been seen, stay alive," O'Brien said.
