There’s a downsizing taking place at Country Club Centre May 11-12 with the arrival of the Mid Island Miniature Enthusiasts exhibit.
The club creates a small world of houses and rooms so tiny (the ratio is about 2.5 centimetres to one-third of a metre) they often must be constructed with tweezers.
Penny Spence, the founding member of the Mid Island Miniature Enthusiasts, lives in Nanoose and has always liked dollhouses as a child, but her interest in all things small lay dormant for years.
Then one day she talked to a friend who had just bought a dollhouse kit and decided to do the same.
Spence started out with a kit of furniture and then started making dollhouses and dollhouse furniture.
From there she moved on to room boxes, in which each room is a perfect miniature setting.
A passion for a small world has paid off foe Spence over the years as she has sold her miniatures at shows in Western Canada and to shops in England, Ireland and France.
The show is free and runs during regular mall hours.
