The Nanaimo Lions Club’s fundraising efforts resulted in a sizable donation to the Nanaimo and District Hospital Founatioin this month.

Club members stopped by Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on Friday, March 11, to present a $20,000 cheque to the foundation to go toward NRGH’s new intensive care unit. The Lions said they raised the money through programs such as their bottle collection efforts in partnership with local businesses.

Janice Perrino, hospital foundation CEO, said the foundation is “absolutely thrilled” with the donation. The hospital foundation noted in a social media post that it is grateful for the Lions club’s support since 1991.
