Island co-op hosts family barbecue

NANAIMO - Summer of Fun family event features live entertainment, children's activities and more.

Mid Island Co-op is  heating up the summer with a free family barbecue to show its appreciation for community support over the years.

Mid Island Co-op’s Summer of Fun event is Saturday (Aug. 24), 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Bowen Road Co-op, located at 2517 Bowen Rd.

The event features games, entertainment, hotdogs, prize draws to win one of two $500 gas cards and more.

Entertainers include Kumbana Marimba Band and Vesta Fire, plus Jump Around inflatable castles, slides, reverse bungy, Romper Room rock climbing wall, Auntie Bobbi the Clown, face painting with Vi and balloon artistry by Crazy Chris.

“We are inviting you all to join us for a mid-day celebration of the many ways co-op organizations are a positive addition to the community,” said Susan Urban, marketing and community relations manager for Mid Island Co-op, in a press release.

Co-op board members will be manning the grill.
