Three spiritual leaders choose to focus on shared values.
The Interfaith Amigos – Imam Jamal Rahman, Pastor Don Mackenzie and Rabbi Ted Falcon – will be at Nanaimo’s Bethlehem Centre from Oct. 26-28 for what’s being being billed as “transformational weekend retreat experience,” according to a press release.
The three spiritual leaders connected in response to 9/11 in the United States in 2001 and have continued to co-operate on presentations and published works.
“The Interfaith Amigos continue to share what they have learned and focus upon shared values and common universals…” notes the release. “With humour spicing the seriousness of their dialogue, they encourage more interfaith collaboration in dealing with the important social and economic concerns of modern-day global living.”
The Bethlehem Centre visit is the amigos’ only appearance in B.C. in 2018.
“I just love them, just in terms of what they’re trying to do and the message that they’re trying to bring…” said Kathleen Darby, Bethlehem Centre executive director. “There’s as many ways of experiencing spiritual life as there are people on the planet.”
A presentation on Friday, Oct. 26, costs $30 to attend, and packages that include Saturday workshops and reflection and a Sunday worship celebration range from $375-650.
