Debbie Trueman, Nanaimo Museum general manager, speaks to descendants of families, including Clem Remillard and his grandsons Brayden, second from left, and Jase, who arrived in Nanaimo aboard the barque Princess Royal Nov. 27, 1854.

The annual event, held at the Bastion last Thursday, drew about 40 people who came out to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the settlers’ arrival.
