Hidden key chains unlock running prizes

Exercise and better health not withstanding, Nanaimo and area residents have one more good reason to run the trail around Westwood Lake.

Exercise and better health not withstanding, Nanaimo and area residents have one more good reason to run the 6.2-kilometre trail around Westwood Lake.

The seventh annual Run for the Mountain takes place Sept. 15, and in the next two months prior to the fundraising event, organizers are placing Saucony key chains somewhere on the course.

The person who finds a Saucony key chain and brings it into Frontrunners, at 5767 Turner Rd., wins a pair of Saucony Kinvara shoes and an entry into the Run for the Mountain.

You can find out when a Saucony key chain is placed on the course by liking the Run for the Mountain Facebook page. Three shoes/entries will be given away before race day.

Run for the Mountain raises funds and awareness for the Nanaimo and Area Land Trust’s work on Mount Benson Regional Park. The last six runs raised more than $30,000.
