Group promotes business links

The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance is helping Island businesses look outside community boundaries to expand stronger trade relationships.

The alliance is hosting its inaugural Linking Island Business event April 13, providing results of its Link Project.

The project was a 52-week study in 2010 aimed at examining regional collaboration and economic development on Vancouver Island through data review, community visits, networking and strategy development.

The Link Team met with community leaders, local government, First Nations, educators, business, media, industry associations and individuals, creating a picture of economic development for Vancouver Island and generating a series of recommendations for VIEA to implement in 2011.

Linking Island Business  takes place at the Parksville Community Centre.

“This project has been embraced by so many business leaders who are going to be there to tell an exciting story of what they have to share with all of us on the Island,” said Dave Willie, project chairman.
