The Great Nanaimo Toy Drive received a five-figure donation to help provide Christmas presents for more children in need.
Western Forest Products announced this week it is donating $100,000 to 30 charitable organizations and First Nations communities in B.C. and Washington State, and $10,000 is going to the local toy drive.
“We are pleased to be extend our year-long commitment to communities with this seasonal tradition again this year,” said Steven Hofer, Western’s president and CEO, in the release. “By partnering with community groups across the areas where we operate, we are able to lend a helping hand to those in need.”

The company’s donations correspond to community size or needs. The Ladysmith Resources Centre Association’s Christmas Cheer campaign was another cheque recipient.
Barb Champagne, campaign coordinator, said in the release that the support will help the LRCA ensure “a special meal and some Christmas cheer” over the holidays for as many as 150 Ladysmith families.
“It is thanks to this kind of remarkable community support that we can meet our fundraising goals at this time,” she said.
