Garden fest arrives in time for spring

The growing season arrives with a burst of activity at the 16th annual Central Vancouver Island Garden Festival.

The event runs Friday to Sunday (March 11-13) at Beban Park, features nearly 50 exhibitors, guest speakers and hands-on activities.

Highlights of the festival include speakers Des Kennedy, Dirk Becker and Carolyn Herriot along with specialty workshops, hourly door prizes, art, music and food.

Milner Gardens and Woodland Roots and Shoots program will be available to younger gardeners in training and free child care is also available.

Admission is $6 per day or $15 for 3 days with children free, when under 12 and accompanied by an adult.

Limited space is still available for exhibitors featuring products, services and information relating to gardening and personal food production.  Show proceeds support horticultural education and the quest for a Central Island Botanical Garden.
