Members of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church struck gold in the form of  water for a village in Malawi, Africa.

Discovering on the website www.adventconspiracy.org that lack of clean drinking water kills more people every year than any other cause, the group wanted to be a part of the solution to the problem.

They started a $7,000 fundraising campaign, through Presbyterian World Service and Development in December, to dig a well for the village, and raised $7,600 in five months.

Children attending St. Andrew’s provided constant inspiration and assistance throughout the project, donating their Sunday School offerings and holding a talent show with admission by donation.

Some children held fundraising birthday parties, asking friends and family to donate money for the well rather than purchasing gifts.

There were several other fundraising events and various donations given over the month by adults and children, groups and individuals.
