Flags are flying in Maffeo Sutton Park with 20 countries represented this year thanks to the Nanaimo Folk Festival Society and its continued support of displaying the cultural diversity of Nanaimo.
The society held its annual banquet to fundraise for the purchase of the flags. Dishes from India, Sweden, Scotland, Finland, Philippines, Norway, Japan, China, Wales, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Ukraine, Croatia, Denmark, New Zealand, South Korea, Iran, Hungary and Greece were sampled by ticket holders.
The annual event marked the society’s 30th year where members fundraise with a diverse ethnic buffet.
