Film footage of yesteryear’s Harbour City can now be watched from anywhere, at anytime, courtesy of the Nanaimo Community Archives.
The archives posted two films made by photographer Les Englefield around 1970 on YouTube.
“From the aerial footage, you get a real sense of how much Nanaimo has grown in 40 years, but you also discover how much has hardly changed at all,” said Christine Meutzner, archives manager.
The mandate of the archives is to make local historical material as widely accessible as possible, said Meutzner.
