The City of Nanaimo and a local non-profit energy organization are co-sponsoring a free evening forum to consider how the greater Nanaimo area could better utilize solar energy.
Presenters will include Michael Mehta, professor of geography and environmental studies at Thompson Rivers University and a founder of the non-profit Gab Energy; Tyler Cody of Osprey Electric; Don Skerik of the Viridian Energy Co-operative; and others.
The Regional District of Nanaimo, assisting with the event, is encouraging energy-efficient buildings and green energy development through bylaw variances, such as increased building heights to accommodate solar panels, plus financial incentives.
The event is set for Thursday (May 7) at Beban Park social centre. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
