An 88-year-old woman parted with her hair to raise more than $10,000 to support Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock.
The annual 11,000 cycling tour across Vancouver Island, which was completed Oct. 5, raises money to fight childhood cancer and send children to Camp Goodtimes, a summer camp in Maple Ridge for child cancer patients.
Joan LeMoine, a supporter of Tour de Rock, on Wednesday presented $10,380 to the Nanaimo branch of the Canadian Cancer Society, the highest total of donations she has raised since she started having her head shaved for donations in 2012.
Last year she raised $9,660 and has to date raised more than $40,000 for Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock.
