NANAIMO - The owner of a Nanaimo furniture store is raising money for victims of the recent earthquake in Nepal.

The owner of a Nanaimo furniture store is raising money for victims of the recent earthquake in Nepal.

Gordy Dodd, of Dodd's Furniture and Mattress, is teaming up with the Red Cross and will be accepting donations at his Applecross Road location.

“This is not the first time, we're doing this all the time,” said Dodd. “Like any disaster in the world. We did it for Haiti, Calgary ... the big one in India and there are thousands of people that are already dead and there are more they are finding every day and there are millions of people there out of their houses.

“They don't have food, clothes. They need medicine, they need [a lot] of money and Red Cross is working well, helping them and we want to help them.”

Dodd said the fundraiser runs until Wednesday (May 6). All people have to do is head to the Nanaimo location and staff will be able to help, he said.
